Be Creative Again: January 2027

Starting in January and running until the end of April, this is a chance to make space for the creative work you want to return to. Across eight live online sessions, you will research ideas, experiment, move through doubt and develop a creative practice that belongs to you. You do not need a finished idea or a particular creative skill. You simply need curiosity, an openness to experiment and a willingness to make time for yourself.

Session 1
STATE OF MIND. Your creative space.
We will start by sharing where we get creative ideas from, to help us get to know each other better. Monika will introduce a creative brief as a starting point & suggest how and where to start your primary research. You will pair up and do some work together and bounce ideas off each other.

Session 4
CREATIVE EMERGENCY KIT. Doubt, lack of motivation. Am I lost?
No, that’s part of the process. So how do you keep going? Do you think your idea is lame and needs a boost, or a new perspective ? Are you inspired by your work? Can you see how this process is shaping your thinking in broader terms?

Session 6
MAKING MORE. Checking in again - open tutorials.
At this stage, we will discuss creative process methods, and try to compile a manual for your future creative journeys. Alot can be said for time, space, having expectations, being stuck, and being unable to move forward. The key is that you keep going, no matter what - I have your back!

Session 2
IDEA. Research and inspiration. When too much is enough.
We’ll check up on how your research is going, and start selecting the most important and curious ideas, images, facts, feelings and bits to keep in your sketch book. That’s already a lot of material to get you going.

FIELD DAY

This is an opportunity to “sit with your work”. To observe newness, crisis, progress, skills and your responsibility to keep going. It might feel both scary and exciting, which is totally fine. It`s the best to plan a day like this in the second half of the course.

Session 7
FINISHING. Tutorials and feedback. Having more conversations.
Being with your project – it can be your process as much as an object. Ease up on your expectations, and the pressure you feel to be ‘good’ at it. The creative journey is the key. Both process or product are exactly that.

Session 3
PROCESS. Structure, method, practical information and sampling.
At this point something starts emerging. From a web of information, clarity comes into focus. The creative process isn’t linear and often makes sense only to you, so you’ll need to experiment and take risks. Are you doing that?

Session 5
MAKING. Checking in.
You are now making your object, artefacts, drawings, cook book, piece of writing, or whatever. Or, if your choice is to continue
with secondary research, it will look like connections- between ideas-and-objects.
You are developing your creative process,
which is as valid as an object.

Session 8
STATE OF MIND. I am being creative again.
You have tangible proof - sketch books, catalogues of ideas and materials, not to mention a community of like-minded people.
Does anyone feel like hearing about your process? About making and failing, and making! What an amazing journey!
